Overheard a shop guy in Denver say "bottom brackets are the oil changes of bikes" and it clicked for me

I spent 20 minutes last night cleaning a creaky press-fit BB on a client's bike that probably just needed to be pulled and regreased, and now I'm wondering how many other simple maintenance jobs we overcomplicate because we skip the basics - has anyone else found a job they were making way harder than it needed to be?

lmao dude I've been there. Nothing like fighting a wheel for an hour just to find out it was one loose nipple being a lazy jerk. Makes you feel real smart when you finally figure it out, right? I once spent a whole afternoon chasing a shifting issue on my old MTB only to realize I forgot to tighten the cable at the derailleur. Honestly bike maintenance is 90% common sense and 10% weeping into a beer while you stare at the thing.
