I spent two years hammering on the wrong side of the anvil face

I was working on a set of fireplace tools and kept having trouble getting clean bends on the scrolls. My mentor, who runs a forge up in Vermont, came by for a visit last week. He watched me for about five minutes, then just pointed at my anvil and said, 'You know the horn is over there, right?' I had been using the flat face near the hardy hole for all my bending work, which was making everything way harder. It was a total facepalm moment. So, how many of you had a basic tool use fact you missed for way too long?

Ever notice how the right tool feels invisible but the wrong one fights you every step? I spent months trying to open cans with the wrong end of a multi-tool before my buddy pointed it out. It's crazy how a simple blind spot can make a simple job so much harder.

Remember trying to assemble IKEA furniture with the wrong size hex key, grant569. The whole thing felt wobbly and wrong for an hour, and I nearly stripped a screw. It's wild how using the correct little piece of metal makes everything just click together like it's supposed to. That same feeling hits me whenever I try to use a butter knife as a flathead screwdriver.
