Wasted $150 on cheap gas forge burners before learning my lesson

I bought two of those $75 eBay venturi burners thinking I was saving money. After six weeks of struggling with uneven heat and constant flameouts, I finally borrowed a buddy's Frosty T-burner. The difference was like night and day. How much did you guys spend on your first burner setup before you figured out what actually works?

My buddy build his own for like $40 total from hardware store parts and I straight up laughed at him for being cheap. Said he was overcomplicating things and my eBay specials were the way to go. Man I ate those words hard when his setup heated up twice as fast and didnt flame out every 10 minutes. Swapped to a forced air setup after that and never looked back. Sometimes the "cheap" option ends up costing you more in frustration and wasted propane.
