Vent: I looked up how many board games are in the BGG database and my brain broke
I was on BoardGameGeek yesterday, just browsing, and I clicked the random game button a bunch. I got curious about the total number, so I checked the stats page. The site says it has over 140,000 games in its database, which is a number I can't even picture. That means if you played a new game every single day, it would take you almost 400 years to get through them all. Has anyone else felt completely overwhelmed by just how much stuff is out there to try?

Almost 400 years" is such a wild way to picture it. That number makes my own wishlist feel totally pointless. It's a weird mix of exciting and completely hopeless.

Yeah jessicahill, that "totally pointless" feeling hits hard. It makes you realize you'll never even see most of them, let alone play them. I used to stress about missing out on the next big thing, but now I just focus on the games I already own and love. That huge number means there's something for everyone, but it also means you have to stop trying to keep up. It's freeing in a way, to just enjoy your own shelf.

Oh man, that reminds me of the time I tried to organize my friend's game collection... he had maybe two hundred games and just looking at that wall gave me a headache. Seeing a number like 140,000 is just a different kind of crazy... it's like trying to drink the whole ocean. I guess the good news is you can't possibly run out of new things, but it does make picking one for game night feel weirdly heavy.
