Remember when our book club at the Maple Street Cafe voted to read 'Cloud Atlas' over 'The Road'?

That was 5 years ago and it changed how we pick books. We used to just go with whatever the loudest person wanted, but after a 3-hour debate, we made a rule that the runner-up gets picked the next month. Now everyone feels heard. Do your groups have any voting rules that actually work?

Heard about a group that does ranked choice voting for their picks. Seems to work pretty well to avoid the usual arguments lol. Might try that with my own book club.

Oh man, that is a genius move. My old club spent three weeks fighting over whether to read a mystery novel or a self help book. We almost needed a mediator, not a vote. Ranked choice would have saved us so much drama. Let me know how it goes, I might steal the idea.
