Debate: Did my $150 greenhouse fan save my seedlings or just burn a hole in my wallet?

I dropped $150 on a high-end greenhouse fan last spring for my mini greenhouse in Portland. On one hand, it kept airflow perfect and stopped mold from killing my tomato starts, which felt like a lifesaver. On the other hand, my buddy just used a $20 desk fan from a thrift store and got the same results with no issues. Now I'm wondering if I overpaid for a feature I didn't really need. What do you all think, does spending big on ventilation gear actually pay off or is it just hype? Has anyone else had a similar experience with expensive vs cheap gear?

Money well spent if you care about reliability more than saving a few bucks.

I learned the hard way that cheap fans can die mid season, but $150 still stings less than replanting everything, right @robinl90?
