Disagree with the whole 'ditch your lawn for clover' trend I keep seeing

Last month at my complex in Austin I had to pull out a full clover lawn a tenant planted cause it attracted fire ants like crazy and the HOA fined us. Am I the only one who thinks clover is overrated for ground cover?

Can we talk about how much WATER a clover lawn actually needs to stay looking good? People act like it's this no-maintenance miracle but during Texas summers I was watering that stuff daily just to keep it from browning out. The fire ant thing was just the final nail in the coffin honestly.

Watched my neighbor's clover lawn turn into a fire ant paradise last summer. It wasn't just the ants either the brown patches from our heat were ugly as hell. Idk maybe clover works in cooler climates but down here it's just a headache.
