Caught myself using a logo mark that looked totally different on a phone screen

I was sitting in my truck last Tuesday checking a new brand mockup on my phone and the logo looked like a completely different shape... the thin lines just vanished against a dark background. Turns out I'd only been viewing it on my big monitor at work without scaling it down to actual mobile size. Anybody else had a logo fail that only showed up when you checked it on a real device?

Phone screens gave me that exact surprise last year. Had a logo with some fine dotted lines that looked great on the 27 inch monitor but on a phone they just disappeared completely. The client pulled it up on their iPhone and asked where the detail went. Had to thicken up every line by at least 2 pixels and it still looked a little chunky on the big screen but at least it read properly on the phone. Now I always check everything on a cheap old Android phone first before I send anything out.

and @mila_jones39 is totally right about how much stuff gets lost between screens, it's wild. it's like how you can buy a shirt that looks great under a store's bright lights but looks totally different when you step outside into regular daylight. ever since i got burned by a mobile logo fail myself i check everything on my phone and like my wife's old tablet before i even think about hitting send.

Oh man that is rough! My buddy Sarah had this whole logo she designed for a local coffee shop and it looked fine on her laptop but when she sent it to the client they pulled it up on their tablet and the whole thing just looked like a blob. Turns out she had this really detailed line art of a coffee bean inside the cup and on small screens it just turned into a dark smudge with no definition. She had to totally redo the whole thing from scratch because the client was like "this looks like a mud puddle not a coffee shop vibe." She said she learned the hard way to always check stuff on at least three different devices before sending it out. Its crazy how much stuff gets lost between a big monitor and a tiny phone screen.
