TIL that bulk buying ruined my budget for months

Honestly, I'm so fed up with everyone pushing bulk buys as the ultimate money saver. I spent a huge chunk of my grocery budget on giant bags of rice and beans last year. Tbh, most of it sat in my pantry and went stale before I could finish it. Ngl, I think for people living alone, buying smaller packages more often is way smarter. Now I'm stuck eating bland food and watching my savings disappear.

My cousin Mark bought a 50-pound bag of flour for a baking project last fall. He was convinced he'd use it all making bread for the holidays. He ended up baking just a few loaves and forgot about the rest. We opened the garage months later and the bag was full of bugs. It just shows how buying big can turn into a huge mess if you don't have a real need. Have you ever had a bulk purchase go totally wrong like that?

Wait, you mean bulk buying can backfire? I always assumed it was the best way to save, but your story about the rice and beans hits home. I had a similar thing with a huge thing of spices that lost all flavor. Makes me wonder if the math ever really adds up for one person.
