My $35 folding camping chair broke on day 2 of a road trip

I thought I was being smart bringing my own chair to save on rental fees at campsites. Paid $35 for a cheap folding chair at a big box store before a 3 week trip out west. It snapped right at the plastic armrest on day 2 in Colorado. Spent the rest of the trip sitting on a log or borrowing from strangers. Should have just spent $60 on a sturdier one from the start. Anyone else get burned trying to save money on gear?

Plastic armrests are always the first thing to go on those cheap folding chairs. Which brand was it - Ozark Trail or one of those Coleman ones? I had a similar one where the fabric ripped right at the seam where it meets the frame, not even the plastic part. Did you try to get a refund or warranty replacement when you got home, or just chalk it up as a lesson learned?

Wait, the fabric ripped too? That's rough.
