That $38 meal kit actually saved me $60 last week

I always thought meal kits were for people who hate cooking or have too much money. But after a rough week in Seattle where I kept ordering takeout, I tried one from Dinnerly at $38 for three meals. I compared what I would have spent on delivery, which came to around $98, and the portions were big enough for lunch leftovers too. Anyone else found that the convenience math works out when your schedule gets crazy?

The rough week struggle is real. When my schedule goes sideways, the last thing I want to do is figure out dinner, and delivery costs sneak up faster than you think. Seeing that the meal kit came with leftovers is the part that really sells it for me. It is nice when something actually works out better than expected during a stressful stretch.

...which is hilarious because I'm the person who will stare at a fridge full of groceries and still order a $40 pizza because I can't decide what to make. The packaging alone probably did more meal planning for me than I've done for myself in months. I burned my hand on the little foil tray trying to be fancy with the oven mitts, but honestly, my takeout habit has zero burns and way more guilt. So yeah, the math works out, but only if you count the cost of me pretending I'm a competent adult who remembers to thaw chicken.
