The week I accidentally budgeted my groceries by mixing up my cash envelopes

Last Tuesday I grabbed the wrong envelope for the store and ended up spending my fun money on veggies instead of my usual junk food. Turned out I saved $40 that week because I couldn't impulse buy snacks. Has anyone else had a happy accident like that change your spending?

Wait, hold on @the_jason, are you talking about a literal envelope of cash or a category in a budgeting app? Cause I've tried both and my brain just treats a "whatever" pile like open season on a hundred dollar bill. Seems like you'd need some serious self control not to grab from that envelope every single time you see a gas station energy drink or a new fishing lure. How do you keep the "whatever" envelope from just becoming your main spending account? I'm asking because my system always ends up with the envelope getting raided for non-whatever stuff like a broken alternator belt or a last minute birthday gift.
