Folded the corner of my floor plan and it fixed the layout problem

I was stuck on a kitchen layout for a client in Austin last week, every angle felt off. Out of frustration I folded the paper diagonally on the sink wall and suddenly the whole flow clicked into place. Has anyone else used a physical fold like that to test sightlines or traffic paths?

Physical folds change how you see the geometry. It forces your eye to follow a new angle instead of the same old grid. Might be worth trying with a piece of string laid across the blueprint too.

Folded a site plan for a warehouse job in Nashville once and the crease accidentally lined up with a loading dock I'd been fighting with for two hours. It's weird how a physical bend breaks that mental block where you keep staring at the same orthogonal lines.
