Plywood doors vs solid wood - picked plywood for a kitchen job and it came out better than I expected

I had a client last year who wanted shaker-style cabinet doors for a full kitchen reno. She was dead set on solid poplar because that's what her father used. I talked her into trying 3/4 birch ply with solid wood edge banding instead. Saved her about $1,200 on material. Two years in and none of them have warped or twisted like solid wood ones I've seen in other kitchens. The paint finish is actually smoother too because the plywood surface is more consistent. Has anyone else made the switch for door panels?

Man, that's such a solid win. Feels good when the cheaper option actually outperforms the expensive stuff, right? Glad it worked out for her.

My cousin was in the same boat with her cheap drugstore moisturizer versus that expensive French brand. She stuck with the budget one for six months and her skin got SO much better, less breakouts and everything. It really is a relief when the wallet-friendly stuff ends up working better, saves so much stress.
