Compression vs crimp fittings on a 200 amp meter in Cleveland last week
Finally got to try compression fittings after doing crimps for years on a service upgrade. The compression tool was way easier on my hands and the connections felt solid right away. Crimps always make me double check with the gauge and they take longer. Anyone else switch and not look back?

Wait, people are actually out here using compression fittings on a 200 amp meter? Crimping has been the standard for so long around here I figured everyone just stuck with it. Compression sounding easier on the hands is making me question my whole tool setup, not gonna lie.

compressions felt solid right away" - that's exactly it lol. Crimping always felt like i was squeezing a tube of toothpaste and hoping the gauge says ok. Makes me think about how everything has that one "trust the process" method vs the "just works" method.

Wait, didn't you used to swear by the crimp method? I was the same way honestly. I had my whole routine down and figured compression was just a gimmick. But once I tried a compression fitting on a low stakes project, it clicked. The whole "just works" feeling is real, takes all that guesswork out of it. Your mile may vary but for me it was a total switch.
