Just realized how a simple mirror fix hasn't changed in decades.
I mean, I was struggling with an alignment until I recalled the same method from my apprenticeship. Idk, maybe it's just me but some things stay the same.

Yeah the "same method from my apprenticeship" bit is so true. Had an old timer show me the shim trick years ago and I still use it. Some fixes just stick around.

Ever think sticking with old methods just holds people back? I always try to learn the new way first.

That shim trick comment is exactly the problem. Sticking with old fixes just holds you back. Those shortcuts can waste more time than they save if you never learn the actual step-by-step. Newer methods exist for a reason, usually because they're faster or work better with modern parts. Blindly using an old trick on a new system can even cause bigger issues. Gotta know when the old way is just a band-aid.
