My new ultralight tent turned into a kite in a Wyoming windstorm last month.

I was camping near Pinedale and a gust ripped the stakes right out, sending the whole thing tumbling 50 feet into a creek. I spent the night in my car, which was way less fun. Has anyone else had a tent completely fail in bad weather?

Honestly, is a wet tent that big of a deal? It's just nylon and poles. In my experience, stuff dries out. A little dirt or rain never killed a tent, it's made to be outside. Maybe I'm just used to my gear getting beat up, but this feels like making a problem where there isn't one.
