That $120 creosote log was a complete waste
I bought one of those fancy creosote removal logs from the hardware store last spring. Thought it'd save me a day of scraping on a rental property flue in Denver. After burning it and inspecting, the buildup was still about a quarter inch thick in spots. Ended up having to do a full manual sweep anyway, so I basically threw that money away. Anyone else get burned by those chemical logs?

Total waste of $120 you said it" nailed it. I think that's just how a lot of quick fix products work these days. They sell you a shortcut that sounds too good to be true, and it usually is, because the real solution is always the boring, manual work nobody wants to do.

Ugh that "waste" part is exactly right. I grabbed one from Ace Hardware last winter for my chimney and honestly thought it would at least loosen stuff up. Nope. I still had to scrape for two hours and the log just made a weird orange ash mess everywhere. Total waste of $120 you said it.
