Vent: This week was just one weird old chimney after another

Had three jobs in a row where the flue tiles were cracked in a perfect spiral pattern, like someone drilled them. The last one in the old North End had me on the roof for almost four hours just getting a camera down there. Anyone else run into damage that looks almost intentional?

Honestly... that just sounds like normal wear and tear to me. Chimneys are old and things shift and crack in weird ways. A spiral pattern isn't that wild when you think about how heat and stress work on clay tiles. Four hours is a long time, but some old builds are just a pain like that. I really doubt anyone went up there to drill them on purpose.
