Discovered my logo files were RGB for 2 years... client noticed first
I had been sending out these vibrant digital proofs for a local bakery's rebrand and they kept coming back looking washed out on the menus. The owner finally called me and said the purple looked like gray on the printed banners... I checked my files and sure enough every single one was in RGB mode. All that time I thought the printer was messing up but it was me the whole time. Has anyone else had a moment where the client caught a color mistake before you did?

I used to think RGB vs CMYK was overblown until I had a client call me out on a deep blue that turned into a muddy navy on their business cards. I honestly believed the printer was just being difficult for months. It took me way longer than I'd like to admit to realize I hadn't checked my color space in years. Now I triple check every file before sending anything off, even the proofs. That bakery story hits close to home because I lost a solid repeat client over that exact mistake.

I bet when you finally checked the files you felt about as smart as a guy who's been putting diesel in a gas car for two years. At least you can laugh about it now.
