I finally chose a manual tool change over a quick-change system for a big aluminum run

Had a job last month for 500 aluminum parts. Shop wanted me to use the quick-change holders. Said it would save time. I stuck with my old manual collet chucks. Took me 15 seconds per tool change instead of 5. But I got zero tool pull-out and held tolerance all day. Everyone says quick-change is always better. For this job, being solid was more important than being fast. Has anyone else gone against the grain on tool holders for a specific material?

Honestly reminds me of people who still use old school tools because they just work better sometimes.

Totally get what you're saying, @jessicahill. My grandpa's old hand plane still gives a smoother finish than my fancy electric sander on some projects. New stuff has its place, but you can't beat the right tool for the job, even if it's older. Sometimes the simpler way just gets it done without any fuss.
