Showerthought: a retired machinist at the diner told me he used to run a 1979 Bridgeport with just a dial indicator and a steady hand, and it made me wonder if we rely on the machine's brain too much now...
He said 'the computer tells you it's right, but your hands and eyes tell you if it's good,' which hit different because I just scrapped a $500 part last week when my CAM software had a glitch the post processor didn't catch.

That "steady hand" comment makes me miss when skill was in the person, not just the program.
