Giving code answers to beginners feels wrong, even if they ask for it

It helps them now, but it hurts their learning in the long run. I've stopped doing it and only offer hints. They get frustrated, but they learn more.

Totally get this, had the same shift a while back. Felt bad at first when they'd get stuck, but watching someone finally get it after wrestling with a hint is way better than just copying a solution.

Yeah that part about "watching someone finally get it" is so true. I was reading something similar about how that struggle is actually where the real learning happens. Totally makes sense now, like you said @faith_smith.
