My friend told me my pour over tasted "aggressive" and I switched from a 1:15 ratio to 1:17
I used to grind fine and brew strong until someone called it "aggressive" at a cupping in Portland, and after adjusting my pour over to a 1:17 ratio with a coarser grind, the coffee actually tastes smoother and I'm not choking down bitterness anymore has anyone else gotten feedback that made you totally change your recipe?

Wait, they called your coffee "aggressive"? That's wild. I've had people tell me my brew was bitter or sour before but never aggressive like it was going to start a fight with them. Honestly that's kind of hilarious but also I'd probably take it way too personally and overthink it for weeks. So you just switched to 1:17 and coarser? That's a pretty big jump from 1:15, I went from 1:14 to 1:16 once and felt like I was cheating somehow. Did your friend say anything else about the aggressive flavor or was it just that one word that got you to change everything?

Wait, aggressive? That's insane, @barbara_moore73, I've never heard coffee described like it's about to throw a punch!
