Spent 60 bucks on a fancy gooseneck kettle and it actually made a difference
I picked up one of those narrow spout kettles from a shop downtown, figuring it was just hype. I used to just dump water from my regular kettle and hope for the best with my pour over. After a week of using it, the pour is way more controlled and my coffee actually tastes less bitter. I think I was agitating the grounds too much before, splashing water everywhere. The thing cost me 60 dollars, which felt like a lot for a kettle, but my morning cup is noticeably smoother now. Has anyone else had a similar experience switching to a gooseneck?

Yeah the "less bitter" thing is what got me too. I noticed my pour over was way more even when I switched. That splash you mentioned is real... I was definitely making a mess before without realizing it.

Laughed when I tried it. Turned out my "technique" was really just bad aim.
