Vent: My fancy espresso machine door hinge snapped off this morning
I was just pulling my morning shot around 6:30am, went to close the little door on the front of my Gaggia, and the whole plastic hinge just gave out. Flew across the counter and landed in my dirty drip tray. I stood there for a solid minute holding the door in one hand and my half-pulled shot in the other, just staring. No way to close it now, so it's just hanging there like a broken jaw. I tried to superglue it back on but that lasted about 30 seconds before it popped off again. Now I gotta figure out if I can order a replacement part or if I'm stuck with this eyesore forever. Has anyone else had a random plastic part fail on them like this, or am I just unlucky?

Hang on, are we sure this is actually a bad thing? I had a similar thing happen with my Breville, and honestly it forced me to just leave the door off. Now I can see my portafilter better and the steam vents way easier. Might be worth trying before you go ordering parts.

And then you can just grab the beans with a measuring cup.
