I finally realized my blue text on gray backgrounds was killing readability after a client called it out

A guy at a local print shop pointed out my brand guidelines had a 2.1:1 contrast ratio on the main body text, and now I can't unsee how bad it looks. Anyone else catch themselves fixing old projects after learning about contrast ratios?

Oh man, that client callout must have stung a bit but at least they saved you from more bad designs down the road. I had a similar wake-up call when I ran some old social media graphics through a contrast checker and saw half my posts were basically invisible to anyone with vision issues. It's wild how easy it is to miss these things when you're staring at your own work, but once you know better you really can't go back to ignoring it.

The flip side though is contrast checkers aren't perfect either since they measure against pure backgrounds, and real world use on photos or gradients changes everything. Good on you for catching it early rather than digging in deeper.
