Just found out 1 in 12 men are color blind
I was reading a design blog last night and saw this stat. It said 8% of men have some form of color blindness. That is way higher than I thought. For a client project with mostly male users, that means nearly 10 out of every 100 visitors might not see my color choices. Has anyone else been surprised by this number when explaining it to a client or boss?

That "1 in 12" stat is something I remember reading in a UX article a few years back, and it really stuck with me too. The article mentioned that red-green color blindness is far and away the most common type, which means relying on red and green alone for important cues (like error states or status indicators) is a real problem. For a client project with mostly male users, I'd suggest using patterns or icons alongside color as a backup, just to be safe.

YES same here. I caught myself using just red/green status dots at work and felt so dumb after reading that.
