TIL that buying every variant cover of a run doesn't make your collection impressive.
A long-time collector named Dave at my LCS told me I was wasting money on variant covers after I bragged about my 12 different Batman #1 issues, and three years later I realized he was right since none of them have held value while his beat-up original copy is worth ten times my whole pile.
