Warning: My comic book short box just split open at the bottom
I was moving my long box of Silver Age X-Men comics last Saturday and the bottom gave out, spilling about 40 issues onto my garage floor. The cardboard was all crumbly and wet from a small leak I didn't notice. Has anyone else had their boxes fall apart like this, and what kind of storage do you use now?

Honestly, you're better off with bags and boards on a shelf, those boxes are just asking for trouble.

Oh absolutely, I learned that one the hard way... had a long box of some silver age books and the bottom just gave out one day. Scattered them all over the floor, bent corners, creased spines, the whole mess. Now everything is in bags with acid-free boards on a solid shelf, so much easier to just pull one out without worrying about the whole thing collapsing.
