Threw $600 at a cheap drysuit and regretted every dive

Bought a no-name drysuit off eBay last year thinking I was saving money. First real job at 40 feet in Puget Sound and the wrist seals failed within an hour. Anyone else have a gear purchase that just wasted your cash?

I bought a used suit from a guy in Anacortes for $500 and the zipper blew out on my first real dive at 30 feet. That cold water rushing in (you know, that crushing feeling) taught me a hard lesson. The thing is, cheap drysuits aren't just a waste of cash, they're a safety hazard nobody talks about enough. When your seals go at depth, you're not just wet, you're fighting panic and hypothermia while trying to stay calm. I bet that $600 suit had bad glue or cheap rubber that nobody tested for real conditions. Sometimes paying a little more up front saves you a lot of misery (and maybe your life) later.

@betty_fisher5 same thing happened to me on my first deep dive, seals gave out at 40 feet and it was pure panic.
