That expensive power trowel I bought was a total waste of money
Dropped $2,200 on a Whiteman 36-inch power trowel last spring thinking it'd speed up my big jobs. First time I used it on a 3,000 square foot garage floor near Austin, the blades chattered so bad I had to finish by hand anyway. I think these fancy machines are overhyped for medium pours and a good bull float and knee boards still do better work. Anyone else had luck with cheaper alternatives or am I the only one who regrets that purchase?

My buddy bought one and sold it two weeks later.

Did you get the same chattering problem? I bought a brand new one last year and it shook so bad my wrist hurt for a week. I tried everything - different blades, different speeds, even rented a different one to see if mine was defective. Turns out these things just don't work well on smaller pours where you have to baby the edges. My neighbor has an old used one from the 90s and it runs smoother than my new one. I feel your pain, man.
