Overheard something at a diner that got me thinking about the moon landing footage

I was eating breakfast at a diner in Boise last Tuesday and overheard two guys at the next table talking about the Apollo 11 footage. One of them said he worked at a film lab in the 60s and claimed the original tapes had different lighting than what was released. He mentioned a specific timestamp where the shadows don't match up, which I looked up later. It got me wondering if there was some kind of staging involved for TV purposes, even if the landing was real. Has anyone else run into people with inside knowledge from that era who raised questions?

There's something about diners and old-timers with stories that feels like the closest we get to secret history, you know? It reminds me of how every neighborhood barber or mechanic seems to have a cousin who worked on something famous but couldn't talk about it at the time.

Totally get what you mean @robinl90. I had a similar thing with a guy at a hardware store who swore his uncle processed the Apollo telemetry data and said the signals had weird gaps that never got explained. I just nodded and let him talk, but it did make me do a deep dive on it later. You never know what's real and what's just a good yarn.
