Rant: watched a girl at the Phoenix trade show test wet hair with a curling iron and now I always check
So I was at the big beauty expo in Phoenix back in March, just walking the floor between booths, and this stylist at one of the demo stations kept grabbing sections of a model's hair that was still damp from a spray bottle. She pressed the iron down, it hissed like bacon in a pan, and she just kept going section after section. I stood there for maybe 4 minutes because I could not look away. The model's ends looked like straw by the time she finished and the stylist actually told the crowd "that's the steam doing the work." I wanted to scream. We learned in school that water boils inside the cuticle and blows it out from the inside, and I have seen the damage on real heads for 6 years. That whole thing made me paranoid, so now I do a pinch test on every single head before I even plug in, no exceptions, even if the client swears it is dry. Does anyone else have a show or class moment that made you change one small thing you do every day?
