Special effects makeup from a party scared a cashier
Last weekend, I did scary makeup for a friend's costume event, using fake blood and cuts. It turned out really well, but I was tired after and only took off part of it. The next morning, I went to buy coffee with some leftover makeup still on my face. The cashier looked at me and jumped back, asking if I had been in a fight. I had to explain it was just makeup from the night before. She laughed, but I felt so embarrassed standing there. It was a silly moment that showed how real our art can look. Has something like this ever happened to you with a client or friend?

Oh man, I did that once after a zombie walk. Stopped for gas with a hollowed-out cheek and the clerk just stared at my money for a solid ten seconds before slowly taking it. He didn't say a word, just kept giving me these nervous little glances. I felt bad but it was also a weird compliment.

Gas station clerks must develop a kind of mental checklist for handling odd situations. A convincing zombie wound would definitely trigger the 'is this real or not' protocol. I bet he was weighing whether to call an ambulance or just scan your snacks. It's those moments of quiet panic that make night shifts memorable. Honestly, you probably made his week more interesting without even trying.

Haha that's amazing! Honestly that clerk was probably running through every possible scenario in his head at once. Like is this a prank, is this real, should I offer help, what's the right thing to do here. You gave him a story he'll tell forever, and you got a free side of awkward tension with your gas purchase. Perfect zombie walk bonus round.
