Just noticed something weird at a studio in Portland
I was visiting a friend's recording studio in Portland last month, the one off Burnside near the old warehouses. They had this brand new acoustic treatment setup that looked amazing, but I noticed the bass traps were placed in corners that didn't even match the room's actual problem frequencies. When I asked the owner about it, he said the installer just threw them up without any measurements. Has anyone else run into studios that look fancy but have zero acoustic planning behind it?

Man that's rough. A buddy of mine in LA had almost the same thing happen, dropped like 8 grand on these fancy diffusers and the room still sounded boxy. Ended up having to pay somebody else to rip half of it down and start over. It's wild how many "pro" installers out there just stick foam in corners and call it a day. Hope your friend didn't get taken for too much, that kind of thing really stings when you're trying to make a space work.

@lee_barnes70 yeah the "stick foam in corners" bit hits home. So many "pros" just throw foam at it and call it a day.
