Serious question, when did you realize your color palette was totally off?
I spent 6 months designing a brand kit thinking high contrast was the way to go. Then a client in Seattle said my warm orange and purple combo looked like a bruise on their screen. Has anyone else had that "oh no" moment with their color choices?

Did you check it on different monitors before showing the client? I had a similar thing happen with a dark teal and maroon palette that looked fine on my Macbook but straight up gross on a cheap Dell screen. What kind of color profile or monitor did the client use to call it a bruise?

Wait, didn't you see that color theory article going around about how blue-ish purples often read as bruise colors on lower quality screens? It's something about how cheap monitors can't display the red undertones properly, so everything just looks muddy and bruised.

Oh man, I used to totally dismiss people who said that kind of stuff about color theory. Thought it was just nitpicking. But after getting burned on a project where my lavender looked like a literal black eye on a client's old monitor, I get it now.
