Had the worst writing day of my life last Tuesday and it was completely my fault
I sat down with this amazing prompt about a lighthouse keeper during a storm, and instead of just writing, I spent 3 hours researching actual lighthouse mechanics and navigation systems. Has anyone else fallen into the research trap and completely murdered their creative flow?
What worked for you that day? I've been there with the research black hole too. I was writing a scene about a baker and ended up looking up bread science for an hour. What finally snapped me out of it was setting a timer for 15 minutes and forcing myself to just write the first draft without checking anything. I saved the real research for later, after I got the story down on paper. After that, my flow came back way easier than I expected. Did trying a timer help you get unstuck at all?
