Customer kept asking me to make the logo bigger on his business card

At a print shop in Austin last month, a guy asked me to enlarge his logo until it literally covered both sides of the card, including bleed. I tried explaining white space and readability, but he just said 'I paid for that logo, I want people to see it.' Has anyone else dealt with clients who don't get basic design principles?

Oh man, I had a guy once who wanted his LinkedIn QR code to take up the whole back of the card. I told him it would look like a weird pixelated Rorschach test and he said "exactly, memorability." I guess I'm just the guy who gets paid to make things look bad on purpose. At this point I've accepted that my job is 90% talking people out of their worst ideas and 10% actually doing the work. Maybe we need a support group for designers who lost the battle against the logo.

oh @terry_hayes18 i feel this so much lol. we're basically professional idea-talkers-downers at this point, and the real work is just damage control. solidarity from someone who's also lost way too many logo battles.
