Warning: Our old way of building button styles was a total mess

We used to have a separate CSS file for every project, and our primary button had 14 different hex codes across the apps. Last quarter, we built a core library in Figma with just 3 button variants. The change happened after a new dev spent a full day just trying to match a hover state. Has anyone else had to clean up a similar color sprawl, and what was your fix?

Honestly, that sounds way too familiar. My friend's team had a huge mess with their grays, like eight different shades that were basically the same. They finally made a strict rule that you could only pull colors from their new design system file. Took a ton of arguing at first, but now their stuff actually looks like one company made it.

How did you get everyone to actually use the new library? We had to make our core styles the only npm package that got updates, so pulling from the old messy files just wasn't an option anymore. It forced the change pretty fast.
