Autolayout clicks once you stop fighting it. Just make sure everything is wrapped in frames, even if it seems stupid. I wasted a whole afternoon on that same thing last month.

Yeah the "wrap everything in frames" thing really is the key... I fought autolayout for months before someone told me that and it was like a lightbulb went off. It feels so dumb to put a single label inside a frame but it saves so many headaches later. I still forget sometimes and then spend an hour wondering why my constraints are broken...

Ugh YES, that's exactly what I kept doing too! The moment I started treating frames like they were FREE and just wrapping EVERYTHING no matter how simple, my layouts stopped breaking randomly. I swear Apple should just make frames the default for ANY element you drag onto the canvas, it would save SO many people from that initial struggle.
