Took me 3 years to figure out I was using layers all wrong

Ngl I was stacking every element on separate layers for a client project last month and my file hit 200 layers. A coworker glanced over and asked why I wasn't using groups and symbols... now my whole workflow feels faster and I don't scroll forever. Anyone else have a basic feature they ignored for way too long?

Wait hold on you had 200 layers? Man that's just wild to me. I used to do similar stuff with duplicate shapes over and over (like I'd redraw the same button ten times instead of making a symbol). Groups changed everything for me too, once I figured them out. Honestly it felt like I was working with a stubborn horse before and then suddenly it was a sports car. Took way too long for such a simple fix.

My friend Jules had this nightmare project where she literally had 400+ layers in a file she inherited. She didn't know about groups either and just kept adding more layers on top lol. One day she accidentally merged all of them into one layer and wanted to cry for like two hours. After that she swore by groups and now she talks about it like a religious conversion. Showed me her workflow later and it was night and day honestly.
