Finally caved and bought a proper digital asset manager for my freelance work

Spent about $120 on Eagle last year, and it's already saved me from at least a dozen frantic searches for that 'one perfect stock photo' I swore I saved somewhere. Has anyone else found a tool that actually cut down on your file chaos?

Yeah, that "frantic search for the one perfect file" is so real. I read a blog post once where a photographer said a DAM was the only thing that stopped him from re-shooting the same stuff over and over because he couldn't find his old work. The tagging system in those programs is a total game changer.

My own tagging system is just me yelling at my folders, @ericjackson.

That photographer's story @ericjackson is pretty wild. What kind of tagging system actually works for that, where you don't just end up with a million useless tags? Like, do you tag by client, by project, by subject, or something else?
