Just realized I've been naming my Photoshop layers 'final', 'final_revised', and 'final_revised2' for like 8 years.

A junior designer on my team asked me for the icon file and I spent 15 minutes clicking through a dozen 'final' versions before I found the right one, so what's your actual system for version control?

This naming thing is a universal trap. My old band had song files like "newmix3b" and "reallyfinalmaster". My taxes folder has "receipts2023" and "FINALreceipts". It's like we all know we should date things or use clear version numbers, but in the moment, "final_final" feels so convincing. The only system that ever stuck for me was adding the actual date, like "icon_20240422", because time doesn't lie.

Ugh, my entire downloads folder is just "screenshot" over and over.
