Last Thursday I had three things go wrong before 9am, then my neighbor called me over to help lift a desk into his truck and we ended up talking about how he plans his whole week on Sunday nights over coffee. Three hours later I'd reorganized my entire afternoon around his method instead of my usual chaos. Has anyone else had a random conversation completely reset how you structure your days?
Honestly I used to roll my eyes at people who planned stuff out like that, figured you just deal with whatever the day throws at you. But then a coworker showed me how she spends like 15 minutes every Sunday just writing down what she wants her week to look like, and it kind of stuck with me. What got me was that your neighbor plans over coffee, like it is not some big chore, just a calm little thing he does. That part made me realize the timing matters more than the planning itself. I still do not get everything right, but I do a loose version now and my Mondays feel way less like getting hit by a truck. Never thought I would be that person but here we are.
