Vent: My old coffee shop got turned into a WeWork

I drove by my favorite spot in Austin last week, the one where I used to sketch out my whole life plan over $3 lattes. They tore out the mismatched armchairs and put in these sterile white desks with monitor arms. I get that people need workspaces, but it felt like they erased all the soul of the place. Has anyone else lost a hangout spot to something totally corporate like that?

Used to roll my eyes at this take, but honestly you're making sense to me now.

Get over the nostalgia. That coffee shop was losing money every month because people like you bought one $3 drink and sat there for four hours sketching. A WeWork brings in steady revenue, pays rent, and actually gives people a clean place to work without feeling guilty about camping out. Progress doesn't care about your mismatched armchairs.
