Those fancy monitor arms are not all that great

I bought a $200 gas spring arm last month and the tilt joint loosened up after two weeks. Had to prop my monitor up with a book to keep it level. Anyone find a clamp-on arm that actually stays put?

Hardcover's worse, it leaves a gap.

Wait, a book? Like a paperback or a hardcover? That's wild, I can't believe a $200 arm gave out that fast. My cheapo Amazon arm from two years ago still holds my 27-inch steady, it's the one with the C-clamp and a thick metal plate. Maybe try tightening the hex bolt where the tilt hinge meets the arm, that fixed a wobble I had.
