PSA: After missing two previous deadlines, I finally got my animated short into the showcase.
Spending every evening for a month on frame-by-frame adjustments (my wrist is still sore) was totally worth it for the recognition.

Honestly that showcase deadline might have been the only thing that got it finished at all... sometimes you need that outside pressure to push through the grind. The real win is having a complete project you can actually show people now.

My friend Leo spent three months coding a game for a jam. He won a small prize but his back is still messed up from the bad chair. He says the trophy just collects dust now.

Totally worth it for the recognition" is a shaky reason to destroy your wrist for a month. That external validation fades fast. You could have been just as proud of finishing it without the showcase, and kept your health. Chasing applause is a bad trade for chronic pain.
