I was wrong about Medellín being a perfect nomad spot after seeing the internet speed at my Airbnb in El Poblado drop to 2 Mbps every evening.

The host said 'it's fine for Zoom' but my calls kept freezing, so now I'm asking what neighborhoods actually have stable fiber for under $800 a month.

Landlords actually know the speeds" made me laugh. My last host in El Poblado swore his 5 Mbps plan was "premium for gamers." I tried to download a simple update and it took three hours. You HAVE to do that speed test screenshot thing. I learned the hard way. Laureles was way better for me too, never had that evening crawl.

El Poblado is oversold. Try Laureles, the Estadio area. Lived there six months, fiber never dropped. Landlords actually know the speeds. Check Belen too, newer buildings. Always ask for a screenshot of the speed test, not just the plan name.

Totally agree about the screenshot rule. My first place here, the guy pointed at the router like it was a magic box and promised "the fastest." It was barely enough to load a map. Learned real quick to ask for proof, not promises. Laureles was a night and day difference, steady connection even on a rainy Tuesday. That area just feels more settled, less focused on looking fancy for tourists.
