Honestly, I was reading an old drafting manual from the 70s and it said they used to draw everything at 1:1 scale on huge sheets of paper. Can you imagine?

My buddy's dad was an old-school draftsman. He said they had these massive tables and would literally walk around the drawing. Sounds wild.

Walking around the drawing like @matthewbarnes said is just crazy to picture. The paper must have been the size of a whole room. Can't believe they did that for every single project.

What kind of projects were big enough to need that, like was it just for buildings or did they do it for smaller machine parts too?
